Chakra - Heart

Malachite is a beautiful, opaque, green-banded crystal that has been credited with absorbing pollutants, making it a great crystal to carry or wear if you suffer with allergies.

Known as the stone of travel, Malachite protects and helps overcome fears of flying.  It helps with jet lag, travel sickness, encourages smooth business travel, and protects on busy roads.

Malachite mines were in use as early as 4000 B.C in ancient Egypt.

Malachite can contain as much as 70% CuO (copper(II) oxide) which in powder form can be toxic if inhaled.

So is Malachite safe to wear?

Yes, malachite is 100% safe to wear. Malachite jewellery is not toxic, and if you wear jewellery normally, there is no reason for you to worry.

Malachite is not affected by water; it will not dissolve or absorb soap. However, malachite is known to react to acids because of its copper content. Remove any jewellery containing Malachite if working with acids.

History

Malachite is a carbonate mineral that contains copper.  It is perhaps the most ancient of stones in human civilization because the earliest artisans were extracting copper from this ore before more convenient copper methods were discovered. Ancient Egyptians mined the stone in an area between Mt Sinai and the Suez.

It has been discovered in archaeological remains from the ancient Egyptians, ancient Greeks, and ancient Romans.

Malachite is softer than a lot of other gemstones and for this reason it is often carved used as an ornamental stone for items like table tops, bowls, vases, and carved animals.

Uses

  • For extra protection carry Malachite when travelling.

  • Flushes out toxic emotions.

  • Absorbs negative energies and pollutants, picking them up from the atmosphere and from the body.

  • Guards against radiation and clears electromagnetic pollution.

  • Thanks to its strong feminine energy, Malachite is also great for period problems like menstrual cramps and making the body flow in better harmony when it comes to labour pains.
